Yesterday, I showed you how to create a fabulous pair of Swarovski Crystal Hoops perfect for Halloween. Today, I figured I’d add some wrist candy to the mix with this do it yourself Orange Stretch Bracelet. Now the beads used in this project were 100% made by hand too, but bead making will be shown at another time. You can substitute purchased handmade beads from Etsy or plastic beads from the craft store. Either way, the size of the bead is what’s important so just try to keep the numbers consistent.
Here’s what you’ll need:
18 11mm Handmade Round Polymer Clay Beads in Orange (tutorial coming soon)
1mm Elastic Cord
Jewelry Cement
Steps:
1. Cut a length of elastic cord 8 inches long and secure one end with transparent tape. This will ensure the beads don’t fall off the end while stringing.
2. String all 18 polymer clay beads onto the length of elastic cord.
3. Tie a Surgeon’s Knot between the two ends of elastic cord and apply a dab of jewelry cement to the knot and allow to dry.
Today’s Tip: I always like to add a second dab of jewelry cement after the first has dried and allow the bracelet to sit for 24 hours before cutting the end of elastic cord. Sometimes, due to the nature of the elastic cord, the knot doesn’t hold and needs to be re-tied. If you cut the ends too soon, you will have to re-string the bracelet and you will be wasting a lot of elastic cord.
Happy Crafting!
